Bumble Bee
How can I get rid of a bumble bee nest?

I have a nest of bumble bees, the ones with the black butts and striped fronts that are fat and round. I think thats a bumble bee right? Well anyways, I walked by my lilies and I found one of them with 50-60 bumble bees flying around the plant and then realized they were going in and out of the plant, I think they nested in there. How can I get rid of them without killing them?

Welcome to the real world of bees. They live in the ground so watch your step. They will take over any burrows under ground caused by rodens that make tunnels. You must watch the bees and find the nests. Most of them have more than one opening. Then you can spray the hole with any bee killer until you kill them all. I used up 3 cans of bee killer from raid putting it directly in the holes. Wait until late evening just before dark so that all the bees are in the nest. Make sure you have one person at each nest hole and just start to spray. Keep spraying and eventually they will start to come out. Wear good shoes and as fast as they start to come out of the hole stomp on them. Don’t let them take flight. I realize its sort of cruel but the nest will only get bigger and bigger and then will still have to be eliminated by professionals and they will do it the same way. Every night do this until you do not see any more bees go in and out of that nest. We did that 6 years ago and had no problems until this year now I’m seeing bees again so I have to go find their new nest. You can do that by just following them at a distance. They will take their pollen back to the nest as often as they get so much on their legs which is several times a day. They are not in the flowers but take the pollen from those flowers. They may be living in the flower bed if there was a mole, shrew or vole hole near there. You WILL NOT be able to get rid of them without killing them. If you try anything else they will attack if they are pressured, excited or threatened. Doing it at dusk is your best bet because they don’t fly good at night and its cooler so they don’t get good height in their flight at night either. Good luck.
